Spiva Summer Class schedule 2008

Pre-registration & Prepayment required

Stuff for kids to know (and parents too!)
1. Please be on time.
2. Please be sure someone is picking you up when class ends.

CLAY FOR TOTS - IN MAY!

Saturday, MAY 10, 10–11 a.m.
Pinch Pots: Students pinch and squeeze their way to making unique clay pots. Students must have previous experience in a structured classroom. Parents may or may not stay with child.
Ages: 4 & 5

Saturday, MAY 17, 10–11 a.m.
Coil Vessels: Students learn to roll coils and create interesting clay vessels. Students must have previous experience in a structured classroom. Parents may or may not stay w/ child.

Polaroid Lift & Transfer
Get your summer started with a clever photo class! Lift images off a Polaroid picture and transfer to any fun surface. Even a rock can handle this cool technique.

Beaded Jewelry
Let your personality shine with your original beaded necklace, bracelet or earrings. Students design and create their own beaded jewelry.

Wednesday, June 4, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Focus On Fine Art: Drawing with Confidence
Students dive into drawing by building upon basic skill and technique. Students will focus on the fine art of drawing by using drawing tools, step by step technique building, talking about what makes a good drawing & taking a look at famous artists’ drawings. Students may bring items for inspiration but materials and supplies are provided. Bring a sack lunch!

Paper Making
Using tiny bits of paper, a blender, and homemade screens students will create their own one-of-a-kind paper. Once dry, the paper possibilities are profound!

Sketchbook Series: Line & Contour
Students focus on the most direct for of drawing...line. Learning to see the edges of form previously over looked. Bring a 9x12 sketchbook and we’ll provide the rest.

Digital Photography – Part 1
3 Part Series: Basics & Beyond

Learn the fundamentals of digital photography, elements of photography and the history of photography. Create a mini-portfolio based on shooting assignments. Bring your own digital camera and come prepared to be creative!!!!
Ages: 16–Adult
Cost: $45 for 3 classes. Bring a notebook. You may want to take notes. Must bring a digital camera 5.0 mega pixels or more. Students print their own photos, all other materials provided.

Personality Boxes
Choosing items that represent themselves, students cut and decoupage words and images to create a fancy decorated box or elaborate treasure keeper that symbolizes their uniqueness.

Sketchbook Series: Focus on Perspective

Always wanted to learn how to make those paper origami birds? Here’s your chance! Make a beautiful bird mobile using paper, fishing line and a wire hanger.

Focus On Crafty Arts: Coil Baskets

Precious Metal Clay, Jewelry Making
Create a pure-silver pendant or charm using metal clay, a mixture of pure silver particles, water, and a non-toxic binder. It acts like a clay, but when fired becomes pure silver. All materials and tools will be provided. Come and have fun working with this exciting material.
Ages: 16–Adult
