American Exploration

Prints by Karl Bodmer & George Catlin
from the A.G. Edwards Corporate Collection

During the 1830's, artists Karl Bodmer and George Catlin traveled deep into the American West to record the customs, costumes, and ceremonies of Native Americans. Their 19th century hand-tinted etchings and lithographs come to life when paired with the contemporary sculpture of Jopln native Joe Beeler (1931-2006), one of four founding members of the Cowboy Artists of America.
