An
invitation to join
Dear
Friends of the Arts
Visionary,
encouraging, dedicated, generous. These words describe
the families, individuals, businesses and foundations
who have supported George A. Spiva Center for the
Arts over the years.
One
short history says the Art Center grew from the
efforts of an inspired group of "actual and
would-be artists" who met in 1948 to form an
art guild. George A. Spiva — businessman,
philanthropist and man of vision — was fascinated
with their work. He believed opportunities in the
arts should be available to everyone. Today our
members are entrusted with that vision.
It's
a place to see art, to learn about art, to create
art, to collect art. It's a place to be inspired,
a place to feel welcome. It's your place.
Who
are our members? They're individulas, families,
volunteers, working artists. They're children who
love to explore and get messy and learn. They're
corporate executives who support the arts because
it helps our community thrive. They're educators,
community leaders and retirees. They're merchants
who delight in seeing children paint brilliant,
whimsical fish on storefront windows to celebrate
an art exhibit. They're single parents, college
students, and more than a few people who grew up
loving the arts because of classes they took at
Spiva when they were kids.
Each
Spiva member makes a significant contribution to
our community.
Spiva's
growth and progress are rooted in the dedication
and generosity of our members. Memberships help
us expand our programming and outreach, supporting
a full range of exhibits and workshops throughout
the year.
We're
inviting you to become a member now, or to renew,
or to give the gift of membership to a friend.
Spiva
is yours to use, to be proud of, to enjoy.
Please choose your highest level of participation.
All
of us — members, students, patrons, staff
and board members — welcome you to a lively
tradition in the arts at Spiva. Remember, each membership
makes a difference, especially yours!
Many
thanks,
