Call for Artists!

Spiva Center for the Arts provides year round programming, changing exhibits, educational classes for adults and children, artists talks, and special events—based on a theme. (There are some exceptions, such as the annual Spiva Membership Show, PhotoSpiva, and 12x12 Auction.)

The Main Gallery

The theme for 2007-2008, Art as a Practical Matter, begins with the
Main Gallery exhibit, Tools as Art:
The Hechinger Collection
, opening
June 30, 2007. Shows in the Regional Gallery often complement and relate to the Main Gallery exhibits and theme. Proposed themes are Art and the Colors of Culture for 2008-2009 and Art and the Beauty Around Us for 2009-2010.
The Regional Gallery

Spiva offers three venues for exhibition. The Main Gallery presents work by artists who have achieved national or international recognition. The Regional Gallery is designated for artists residing within 100 miles of Joplin, Missouri. Beginning in the fall of 2007, the Spiva Rental Gallery is available for a fee according to schedule availability.

Artists who wish to be considered for Spiva’s Main and Regional Galleries are encouraged to refer to the 2007-2008 exhibit schedule (and proposed themes for the future) to determine if their work relates to upcoming shows at Spiva. (Artists interested in displaying work in Spiva Rental Gallery need not meet such criteria.)

All artists are to submit a completed Exhibit Application Form and visual materials as described in the application. Artists may receive an Exhibit Application Form by mailing a SASE to
